The Pastel Mini Pack is a great introduction to CONNETIX. The magnetic tiles themselves aren’t mini in size, it simply refers to a reduced number of tiles in the pack compared with other packs. This means that all the tiles in this pack are completely compatible with the entire CONNETIX range! The mini packs (which come in rainbow or pastel) are the perfect size for gifting or for people who aren’t quite sure if they want pastel, rainbow or both! A mini pack is also a great size to trial with your kids if you’re unsure if they’ll be played with. WARNING – there is a high chance this pack will start a CONNETIX addiction.
In this article, I’ll show you 5 great ways to use the 32 Piece Pastel Mini Pack. You’ll be amazed with how many ways you can play with the magnetic tiles in this mini pack!
1. Build Butterflies and Flowers
I had way too much fun creating butterflies and flowers with the pastel mini pack! There are so many possibilities and they look stunning in the pastel colours! Experiment with 2D and 3D designs and allow your creativity to run wild. You can also incorporate chenille stems, pom poms, loose parts or chalk markers to add extra details to your designs. Scroll down to uncover your inspiration!
Got an awesome flat lay design? Turn it into a puzzle! All you need to do is draw around each tile on paper, cardboard or a white board, and leave the tiles next to the drawn outline for your child to complete.
Don’t just stop at butterflies and flowers! What else is found in the garden that you could make out of tiles? Here’s a picture to get you started.
2.Create Castles
There are so many ways to make a castle using tiles from the Pastel Mini Pack. I especially love how beautiful castles look in the pastel CONNETIX colours. They look so dreamy and magical that I’m sure no prince or princess could resist. CONNETIX castles are a great way to encourage small world play and storytelling.
If you are looking for more height or structure to your castle, try incorporating wooden blocks. Don’t have any wooden blocks? Have a look around your home to see what else you could use to level-up your castle game.
3.Be Inspired by the Ocean
We live near the beach and I have two boys who love boating and fishing (especially in pretend play and small world play). Consequently, we are regularly inspired by the ocean. I personally love working with the pastel colours for ocean themed builds! They just look so good!! Here you’ll find pictures of a boat, an octopus, fish and a jelly fish. However, there are so many ocean inspired creations you could make using the mini pack! Spark ideas with these pictures to get you started!
4.Balance Diamonds
Are you ready for a balance challenge? Create a diamond and then balance it on its tip! I know it seems impossible at first but keep practicing and you will eventually get it. When you start getting good at it, consider timing yourself for a personal best or racing with someone else for a fun game. Watch this video to see how I made a diamond using 5 isosceles triangles and 5 equilateral triangles.
For younger kids, it is easier to make and balance a diamond using 4 isosceles triangles and 4 equilateral triangles.
5.Explore shapes
There is a huge range of 2D and 3D shapes to explore using the Pastel Mini Pack. You’ll be able to make squares, cubes, stars, rectangles, pyramids, triangles and more. Create, discover and name shapes, count the number of sides of a shape or the number of shapes within a shape, learn about fractions and explore endless challenges using shapes – CONNETIX truly makes learning fun!
I hope this blog has left you feeling inspired and ready to play, no matter the size of your CONNETIX collection!
