Ben ... completely agree ... these types of events exponentially reinforce and build-on training accomplishment and experience. Marines have been doing the Crucible in boot camp, OCS has its versions in SULE I and II plus Quigley and leadership reaction exercises, and, of course, next comes the realm of CAXs/ITXs that most FMF Marines have done for decades. They are all important to the concepts you mentioned. Relating to Logistics directly, one of the very best exercises I ever participated in was JLOTS II, Phase 3 at Fort Story, VA. A true, joint DOD event. I was the S-3A for an active duty Marine Battalion (2nd LSB). Lots of lessons-learned ... and I was part of their application later in an operational environment. The value of these types of training events is huge. My experience in the Marines was that people want to train harder and expand their skills ... and they want it to matter and be realistic, too. Achieve that balance - learning expands and morale soars.

What level are you at?? How do you know? The goals is to be a person/company of values! Practice in Pursuit of the Pinnacle. “Ultimately, it is faithfulness to self-understanding that is the basis of a person’s individual integrity and sense of duty—the determination to be, in the words of General Douglas MacArthur, “What you ought to be. What you can be. What you must be.” How do institutional values come to be reflected in individual virtues? They do so, borrowing an old line, in the way an aspiring musician gets to Carnegie Hall: by “practice, practice, practice.” “.
