Matt Rife gave an update to his fans on Wednesday after recent last-minute cancellations of comedy shows in Indiana due to a 'medical emergency'.

The 28-year-old comedian in an Instagram post first thanked his fans for 'all the well wishes'.

'I'm working on getting better and can't wait to come back shortly and give you the best possible shows that you deserve,' Matt posted for his roughly 7.6 million followers.

'Having to reschedule shows broke my f***in heart and I hate it, but I deeply appreciate your understanding and wanted to update you on those,' he added.

The comic was set to perform two shows at the Indiana University Auditorium on May 29, but revealed he would be unable to take the stage just hours before his performances.

'I'm so f**king sorry, but due to a last minute medical emergency i have to reschedule our shows tonight (again),' Matt tweeted on X.

'I've been doing 40+ shows a month for a year and half and never had to do something like this, I'm so so sorry, i hope you understand and i love you so much.'

'Refunds are being issued, working on it now. Sorry again,' Matt added in a subsequent tweet.

The two shows were part of his ongoing ProbleMATTic World Tour, which will see the comedian perform in the U.S., Canada, and Europe until November.

Shortly afterwards, ticketholders for upcoming dates received a message about how Matt nearly passed out from exhaustion, according to TMZ.

The update explained that Rife was on his way to the University of Indiana for his two shows when he almost fainted due to tiredness.

His medical team reportedly advised him to take a break and not go on stage.

Taking their advice, he decided to take a two-week hiatus from his shows and is scheduled to resume his tour on June 12 in Memphis.

Rife, who has amassed over 18 million TikTok fans, recently stoked controversy when he made a sexist joke about domestic abuse as part of his Netflix comedy special

Matt, who has amassed over 18 million TikTok fans, recently stoked controversy when he made a sexist joke about domestic abuse as part of his Netflix comedy special, which was filmed in Washington, D.C. and released on the streaming platform in November.

He kicked off the controversial quip with a comparison between the American capital and its largest nearest city - Baltimore.

'I've only been to Baltimore one time, and the hostess who seats you had a black eye - a full black eye,' Rife told the crowd. 'It wasn't like, 'What happened?' It was pretty obvious what happened.

'And my boy, who I was with, was like, 'Yeah, I feel bad for her, man, I feel like they should put her in the kitchen or something where nobody has to see her face.' And I was like, 'Yeah, but I feel like if she could cook, she wouldn't have that black eye.''

He later appeared to apologize for the joke telling his followers: 'If you've ever been offended by a joke I've told, here's a link to my official apology.'

The link, however, was for a website that sells 'special needs helmets,' sparking additional furor over his apparent ableist remark.

Matt broke the news about his cancellations on both Instagram and X

Matt also made headlines in December when he hit back at a plastic surgeon Dr Benjamin Caughlin for claiming he had given an unnamed celebrity the 'greatest jawline ever'.

In a viral video, Dr Caughlin had shared a photo of himself stroking his jaw and then skipping down a hallway, alongside the caption: 'Me after creating the greatest jawline ever seen just for my patient to get cancelled right after.'

Many users speculated the celebrity was Matt.

It wasn't long before Matt commented on the video, writing: 'Lying about medical history is illegal, just FYI.'
